Suspected Butane Honey Oil Conversion Lab

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 2-20-19, Approximately 8:00 AMPlace of Occurrence: 1100 block of Willow Road, NipomoVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: N/AOn 2-20-19, Deputies with the Sheriff's Office Civil Division were serving an eviction notice at a residence in the 1100 block of Willow Road in Nipomo when they discovered what appeared to be a butane honey oil conversion lab in an outbuilding on the property.
The Sheriff's Special Operations Unit, Cal Fire hazmat crews and county Environmental Health were called out to the property to assess the situation.
A butane honey oil conversion lab converts marijuana into hash oil or "honey oil." The extraction process uses parts of the marijuana plant and converts them to a more concentrated oil using butane gas in the process. This process is highly dangerous and volatile and can result in explosions. No one was injured in this incident.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
