Contact: Rob BrynPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 2-9-12 4:31 PMPlace of Occurrence: 2660 Lynch Canyon Rd., BradleyVictim Information: WithheldSuspect Information: Steven Archie Smith 53, of BradleySan Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 53 year old Bradley man Thursday afternoon, after he had armed himself with a handgun and slapped his alleged domestic partner while trying to leave his property. The woman had attempted to keep Steven Archie Smith from leaving in his truck after he had threatened to kill himself over their relationship. Smith left and drove up the road of a nearby hill and crashed his vehicle into the bushes. The woman heard several gunshots from the hill area and summoned deputies. Deputies reached the remote area above Heritage Ranch and with the assistance of a CHP helicopter located the crashed truck. Ground units located the distraught man and took him into custody without incident, recovering a handgun from the truck. Numerous guns were taken for safe keeping and the man booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on domestic battery charges. Smith was later released on $10,000. bail. Booking photo release authorized.
