Contact: Aaron NixPhone: (805) 781-1410Date and time of incident: May 23, 2012 5:15 PMPlace of Occurrence: 300 blk McCarthy Ave., OceanoVictim Information: 35 year old male Oceano residentSuspect Information: Brandon James Logsdon Rietkerk, age 28On 05-22-12 at approximately 1715 hours deputies were dispatched to a report of a subject with a gun. The victim alleged that the suspect, Brandon Rietkerk, pulled a gun out, pointed it at the victim and then pulled the trigger. A physical altercation ensued when the gun did not fire. The suspect was attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle when deputies arrived at the location. Rietkerk was detained and transported to the hospital by ambulance for injuries he sustained in the altercation. Rietkerk was later arrested and transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail. No other suspects are being sought at this time. The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries he sustained in the altercation with Rietkerk.
