This year there are three camps for incoming 6th through 8th graders who live in the unincorporated areas of the county. And best of all, the camps are free!
The camps are part of a violence prevention program taught by trained law enforcement officers. The summer camps provide fun activities and games while teaching children how to avoid taking part in bullying, violence and gangs. They encourage kids to make responsible choices in their lives.
The media is invited to visit the camp during the week. Please email Deputy Mark Fontecchio at [email protected] to make arrangements. The Sheriff's Office asks that any media representative wishing to cover the camp contact Deputy Fontecchio prior to arrival.
Registration forms are now available on the Sheriff's Office website, slosheriff.org. Those forms can be found by going to the Community Programs drop down menu and selecting G.R.E.A.T.
