Formal announcement of appointment of new Undersheriff

Basti. Basti has served with the Sheriff’s Office for 33 years. Current Morro Bay Police Chief, Tim Olivas was tapped by Parkinson who described him as “A trustworthy forward looking leader who shares my views.”
Prior to taking the reigns as Chief in Morro Bay, Olivas was a Captain for the California Division of Fish and Game, with responsibilities for three separate commands starting at the Oregon border, continuing down the coast to below Monterey. Olivas is a Cal Poly graduate and started his law enforcement career in Morro Bay in the late 1980’s. A change of command will occur in mid April.
