Search for Attempted Murder Suspect

In that incident, a male suspect identified as 30-year-old Richard Anthony Rodriguez pulled up in his car alongside another car with three female occupants inside. Rodriguez then fired off one shot at the women in the car. No one was hurt. Rodriguez was last seen headed southbound on highway 101 toward Santa Maria. The Sheriff's Office put out a BOL (Be On the Lookout) to other local law enforcement agencies.
On 2-19-16 at approximately 3:15 AM, Paso Robles Police located the suspect's vehicle at the Motel 6 in Paso Robles and identified the suspect in one of the rooms of the motel. Sheriff's Deputies responded to that location at approximately 4:00 AM. The Sheriff's SED (Special Enforcement Detail) team set up a perimeter around the motel and evacuated the occupants of the surrounding rooms. Sheriff's Detectives tried repeatedly to contact Rodriguez but the suspect did not respond.
This afternoon, members of the SED team breached the door to the suspect's room. A motorized robot was sent in to search the room and the adjoining bathroom. The suspect was not located. It's believed at this time, the suspect left that location prior to our arrival on scene.
The Sheriff's Office is continuing to follow up on tips and leads about the suspect's whereabouts. It is believed at this time that Rodriguez is still in the County. We are asking for the public's help in trying to locate him. He is described as an Hispanic male, 5' 9" tall and weighing 205 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
If he is located, we ask that you don't try to contact him as he is considered armed and dangerous.
