Filinow was originally reported missing by her family approximately one week earlier, and the Sheriff's Office had been actively investigating her disappearance using detectives, patrol, and Search and Rescue. Filinow was found to be in good health and explained that she had taken a voluntary leave from her home and family. According to residents at the Dakota Rd. house, Filinow made contact with the home's landlord at a local tavern on Sunday, March 11, and told her she was homeless. The landlord made arrangements with Filinow, who identified herself as "Joyce," to provide room and board in exchange for housekeeping. Filinow agreed and had been living at that residence until being contacted today by Sheriff's Detectives. Filinow was transported by Sheriff's personnel to her home, where she was re-united with family.
