Deputies contacted the man in his white Toyota Tacoma pick-up and subsequently took him into custody for possession of methamphetamine.
Arrested was Billy Gene Mannon of Templeton. A routine checked revealed Mannon was a registered sex offender. Because of the arrest and the close proximity to an area frequented by a girls sports team, the Sheriff's Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE)team today posted flyers in Templeton describing the man and vehicles associated with him.
"Mr. Mannon was released on the narcotics charges pending his court appearance. While our investigation continues, it is out of an abundance of caution that we made the notification to people in the area who may come in contact or see suspicious acts that are associated with this person.” said SAFE detective Ron Waltman.
Mannon is not currently wanted for any crime.
