Alternatives to Violence Program Graduation Ceremony

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 11-10-12, 12 NoonPlace of Occurrence: Lowgren Auditorium, Sheriff's Office, 1585 Kansas Ave., San Luis ObispoVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: N/AOn 11-10-12, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in collaboration with Sr. Theresa Harpin/Restorative Partners and volunteers with the local chapter of the Alternatives to Violence Program (AVP) will be holding a graduation ceremony for 11 female inmates at the new Women's Honor Farm who have successfully completed Level III of the AVP. These inmates will have completed 60 hours of workshops on alternatives to violence and conflict resolution and will become certified facilitators for future AVP programs. The program is designed as a proactive approach to the general issue of violence and assisting inmates in conflict resolution. The graduation ceremony will take place at 12 Noon at Lowgren Auditorium which is located in the main building of the Sheriff's Office. For more information contact Lt. Michelle Cole at 788-2103.
