Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781 4547Date and time of incident: 1-27-14, Approximately 2:15 PM Place of Occurrence: Sierra Vista Medical Center, San Luis Obispo Victim Information: Rudy Joseph Silva, 35, Transient Suspect Information: N/AThe Coroner's Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is releasing the cause of death for 35-year-old Rudy Joseph Silva. Silva was an inmate at the County Jail who complained of being ill and was transferred to Sierra Vista Medical Center on 1-23-14. Silva died four days later on 1-27-14. The cause of death is listed as respiratory failure due to septic shock as a consequence of influenza A and staphylococcus. Silva had no known previous medical history.
