Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Vehicle

Persons living in the area of "H" and Encina Streets heard screaming and yelling coming from the corner and saw a white male adult attempting to hit a juvenile with his fists. Neighbors intervened to rescue the juvenile, with one of them striking the suspect in the face after the man lunged at them.
The suspect then got into his car and attempted to strike the two adults with his car. Once person jumped out of the way, the other took refuge behind a tree.
A third witness obtained a license plate number that deputies used to trace the suspect and his vehicle to an address in the 22500 block of "I" Street.
Deputies found a man matching the description of the suspect and an 80's Volvo that appeared to be the vehicle used in the assault. The license plates had been removed from the car.
Arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon was Clifford Earl McKercher, 53 of Santa Margarita. McKercher is held on $25,000. bail.
