Cockayne, 39 years old, Paso RoblesSuspect Information: Machel Schoepf, 38 years old, Paso RoblesSheriffs Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident after a physical fight and firearm discharge was reported between a female suspect and her fiancé. Machel Schoepf was taken into custody after she allegedly battered Cockayne, brandished a loaded firearm, and discharged a round into the ground during an argument in front of their residence. Cockayne sustained minor injuries related to the battery but did not sustain injuries related to the use of the firearm. Schoepf was booked into County Jail for inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, both felonies, and for misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm. Schoepf is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Further investigation revealed the presence of an additional firearm and a police style baton illegally possessed by Cockayne, a felon on supervised state parole. Cockayne was taken into custody for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a restricted dangerous weapon (baton), both felonies. Cockayne was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and is currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
