The suspect is identified as 34-year-old Josue Gallardo, a transient from the Paso Robles area. Gallardo had a warrant out for his arrest for a domestic violence incident which took place on 6-23-16. One of the Deputies involved in today's incident had taken the original domestic violence report and was familiar with the suspect and the suspect's vehicle. As the Deputies were on patrol this morning, they recognized the vehicle, pulled alongside it as it was traveling southbound on Highway 101 , identified the driver as Gallardo and knew he was wanted on domestic violence charges. The Deputies fired shots and then retreated. Backup units arrived on scene and the area was cleared. At that time, it was discovered the suspect was deceased.
