Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781 4547Date and time of incident: 5-8-13, Approximately 9:10 AMPlace of Occurrence: Avila BeachVictim Information: Chad Henry Hebert, 37, TransientSuspect Information: N/AOn 5-8-13, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office received a report of a body floating in the water off Olde Port Beach in Avila Beach. The body was identified as 37-year-old Chad Henry Hebert who was believed to be staying on a relative's boat moored in Port San Luis Harbor. The investigation revealed that a kayak was discovered upright and empty near Harford Pier several hours earlier. It's believed that Hebert was using the kayak to shuttle back and forth from the boat to the beach. Hebert's body showed no obvious signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected. The investigation continues as to the manner and cause of death.
