Homicide - Drive By Shooting - Update

Contact: Rob BrynPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 11-17-11 6:40 PMPlace of Occurrence: 1700 block, 21st Street, OceanoVictim Information: 1 Male Juvenile 17, 1 Male Juvenile 14Suspect Information: NoneSan Luis Obispo County Sheriff's detectives continue the investigation into the drive by shooting that occurred in the 1700 blk of 21st Street in Oceano Thursday evening. Multiple shots were fired from a vehicle at persons standing on the street. A 17 year old boy was shot in the head and died at Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria this morning. A 14 year old boy was also struck in the leg and was treated at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital. Over 30 personnel from the Sheriff's Office took part in the initial response, while specialized units worked throughout the night. No suspects have been identified. The dead juvenile has been identified as Gabriel Salgado, 17 of Oceano. No further release of information is anticipated at this time. Next update is scheduled after 4:00PM today.
