Four cases of flu were reported yesterday and county health officials believe a total of 29 inmates have been exposed. Protocols for handling an outbreak of this kind in a correctional facility are to quarantine the area, which includes a total of 105 inmates who are not allowed to have visiting privileges and court appearances will be postponed.” The county jail nursing staff is monitoring the outbreak and it is the type of flue that causes fever, headaches, etc.", said county epidemiologist, Ann McDowell. In addition, no staff have been diagnosed with the problem and vaccinations have been offered. The flu is expected to take approximately five or more days to run it's course, according to public health officials.
