Unattended Death

Corngold DOB: 2-19-62Suspect Information: N/ASan Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Coroner deputies are investigating the cause of death after an Avila Beach man was found deceased in his car near Cave Landing Rd. on Saturday morning. A passing motorist spotted the car pulled to the side of the road with it's flashers on and noted that the man appeared to be unconscious. The person stopped and could not awaken the driver, then summoned help. Arriving fire and medical personnel began CPR and the man was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The man has been identified as Scott M. Corngold, formerly of Long Beach, New York who was recently serving as a Rabbi at Temple Beth David in San Luis Obispo. Corngold had resigned earlier in the week. Autopsy is pending on Wednesday with toxicology reports pending in the three to four week range.
