Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 9-29-12, Approximately 2:30 PMPlace of Occurrence: Highway One Near HarmonyVictim Information: Steven Lee Gorman, 57, SacramentoSuspect Information: N/AOn 9-29-12, during a bicycle riding event on Highway One, one of the 1,500 cyclists, 57-year-old Steven Lee Gorman of Sacramento, collapsed from an apparent heart attack. Emergency medical aid was requested. Among those responding was San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Senior Deputy Todd Steeb. When Deputy Steeb arrived on scene, two or three local nurses who were riding in the event, were performing CPR on Gorman. It was determined that Gorman did not have a pulse. At that time, Deputy Steeb retrieved his AED (Automated External Defibrillator) from his patrol car. He deployed the defibrillator, shocking Gorman's heart. Gorman then began breathing on his own. He was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and then transferred to French Hospital for further treatment.
