Verizon 911 System Issue

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 3-7-17, Approximately 4:00 AMPlace of Occurrence: San Luis Obispo County Victim Information: N/ASuspect Information: N/AOn 3-7-17, the Sheriff's Office was notified by email that Verizon is unable to provide 911 service to residents of San Luis Obispo County. At this time, the State 911 system and Verizon are aware of the issue and are working to correct it. There is no estimate as to when this issue will be resolved. The Sheriff's Office is recommending Verizon customers, who need emergency assistance call the fire department or law enforcement agency directly. It's also recommend those Verizon customers look up the numbers of those agencies and have them handy in case an emergency arises. The County Office of Emergency Services has an information-only line that is available at 805-543-2444. The Sheriff's Office will continue to provide updates to this situation as available.
