Unlawful Flight w/ Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest By Force, Possession of Controlled Substances, and Parole Violation

Odom, 47 years old, of Oceano.On Monday, 09/20/10 at approximately 11:31 PM, Sheriff deputies stopped a vehicle for traffic violations at the above listed location. The driver and sole occupant, Johnny B. Odom, refused to exit his vehicle upon contact and attempted to drive away while deputies were beside his vehicle. Upon initiation of flight, deputies immediately extracted Odom from his vehicle which continued on, side-swiping a nearby parked vehicle and then crashed perpendicularly into another, pushing it sideways into a third victim's vehicle. The damage to all four vehicles (three victim's and the suspect's vehicle) was considered minor.

Immediately following Odom's extraction, a brief foot pursuit ensued resulting in his sustaining minor injury during apprehension. He was medically cleared at a nearby hospital and subsequently booked into County Jail for three felonies; Resisting Arrest by Force, Unlawful Flight/Evasion with Reckless Driving, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Odom is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended driver's license. Odom's bail is set at $20,000 however due to a no-bail hold placed by state parole officers, he currently remains in custody without bail.
