Animal Services officers were called to a remote area of California Valley on Friday to investigate alleged animal cruelty. Deputies found over 200 animals of various types on site, including sick and deceased animals.
Taken into safe keeping and stored at Animal Services were 8 adult dogs, 2 puppies, 10 cats, 51 rabbits and 4 kid goats.
Found dead at the scene were multiple chickens, 2 puppies, 1 adult and 16 kit rabbits.
Employees from animal services worked into the evening on Friday and continued to care for the animals over the weekend. Deputies have interviewed the care takers of the animals who were supposedly taking care of the animals while the owner was in the hospital last week in Los Angeles.
The investigation will continue this week to determine if any charges will be filed.
