The program was funded with a $50,000 grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). During the past twelve months the Sheriff’s Office conducted 29 operations throughout the county. These operations included using minors to verify ID’s were being checked, “shoulder tap” operations, party patrols, undercover operations at the Mid-State Fair, and license investigations. The Sheriff’s Office working with State ABC agents provided educational training to local wineries, breweries, licensed alcohol retailers, law enforcement agencies, and community groups to increase awareness regarding underage drinking. Enforcement activities have resulted in 96 bookings and 65 violators being cited and released for a total of 161 arrests.
