A seven year old student boarded a bus routed to Santa Margarita Elementary on Thursday morning with a "air soft pistol". These simulated firearms resemble actual weapons and can be mistaken for real guns. Air soft guns discharge a small plastic pellet, similar to a "BB". Air soft look-a-like weapons are required to have a red plastic tipped barrel to help identify the weapon as non-lethal, however it is still possible to misidentify the toy as a real gun.School authorities immediately removed the toy and summoned sheriff's school resource officers.
