Between December 21 and December 23, 2010, citizens reported several thefts from unlocked vehicles in the area of Templeton. Missing items included an IPod, wallet, tools, gift cards as well as Christmas gifts. While investigating these theft cases, deputies received a lead from a video surveillance taken of the suspects casing a vehicle. Deputies drove to the address of the possible suspects for follow-up, which lead to the arrest of both Clifton and Smith. Numerous items of stolen property were discovered at the residence and subsequently returned to the victims. Ryan Clifton is currently in custody at the County Jail with $20,000 bail, while Galen Smith was booked and released after posting bail. A third person is being investigated as a possible suspect in the case as well. Booking photo release authorized.
