Burglary in Progress

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 6-16-16, Approximately 10:30 AMPlace of Occurrence: 2500 block of Snowcone Place, Arroyo GrandeVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: James Benjamin Scott, 18, Arroyo Grande On 6-16-16, Sheriff's Deputies received a call of a burglary in progress in the 2500 block of Snowcone Place in rural Arroyo Grande.
A female victim reported she was home alone when she heard someone enter her house. When she encountered the male suspect, he ran out of the home and began walking down the street. Neighbors, who were outside at the time, were alerted by the victim. The neighbors immediately made contact with the man and they say the suspect admitted he had planned to burglarize the home. The neighbors proceeded to call the Sheriff's Office. While waiting for the Deputies to arrive, the suspect took off running. Three male neighbors tackled the suspect and held him until Deputies arrived. Deputies discovered the man was carrying a small knife and a hammer.
The man was identified as 18-year-old James Benjamin Scott of Arroyo Grande. He was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools and booked into County Jail.
