Verizon 911 System Issue

Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 6-18-23Place of Occurrence: San Luis Obispo CountyVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: N/ALast night on 6-18-23, the Sheriff's Office was notified by Verizon Wireless of a regional issue with the 911 service for Verizon subscribers that is impacting all of San Luis Obispo County. At this time, Verizon is working to correct their issue.
The calls are being automatically routed to the Sheriff's Dispatch Center on 7-digit lines. As a result, callers should be aware that because their calls to 911 are coming to us on 7-digit lines instead of 911 lines, they must provide us the location of the emergency and their phone number from which they are calling as we will not be able to receive that information automatically.
At no time has there been an interruption of the 911 system. All calls are going through. And there have been no reported delays.
There is no estimate at this time as to when the issue will be repaired. We will send out an update when the issue is resolved.
