Custody Division
The primary function of the county jail as to house pretrial arrestees and sentenced inmates in a safe and secure environment, providing protection to the community. The jail houses both male and female inmates in maximum, medium and minimum security housing locations as well as alternatives to incarceration programs. The jail provides for the health and welfare of the inmates and has the responsibility of transporting those inmates to and from locations outside the jail. In addition to meeting the mental and physical needs of inmates in the facilities, there are other programs such as religious services, drug and alcohol services, library facilities, vocational, educational, and recreational programs available to the inmates. The jail works to reconnect individuals to the community through re-entry services with the goal of reducing recidivism.
