San Luis Obispo’s Crime Stoppers is a countywide, non-profit, community program that unites the public, the media, and law enforcement in the fight against crime.
Sheriff’s Citizen Academy (SCA)
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy provides community members with an inside look at the Sheriff’s Office and all facets of law enforcement.
Internet Safety for Students and Parents
Internet Safety presentations are offered by the Sheriff’s Office to inform students and parents about cyber-bullying, Internet safety, and texting/cell phone safety.
Rural Crime Prevention & Ranch Watch
A rural crime prevention program enlists the active participation of citizens living and/or working in rural areas to reduce crime in their communities, in cooperation with law enforcement.
Personal Safety Programs
Crime prevention presentations for personal safety at home, at work, and in public.
Business and Commercial Programs
Prevention programs directed at the business community to reduce and prevent crime.
Explorer Program
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office provides young men and women, 15-21 years of age, the opportunity to experience law enforcement first hand through the Sheriff’s Explorer program.
GREAT & Sheriff’s Youth Summer Camp
Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) is a national gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer instructed classroom curricula. A large part of the program is the weeklong Sheriff’s Youth Summer Camps that take place during summer break.
Neighborhood Watch
Now you can do a Neighborhood Watch program in any unincorporated area of the county from the comfort of your living room and fight crime at the same time! It’s easy and fun.
Project Lifesaver
Project Lifesaver relies on proven radio technology and a specially trained search and rescue team to help find missing clients.
School Resource Deputy
The School Resource Deputy program creates a law enforcement presence to ensure safety and promote positive relationships on school campuses and at community events.
Sheriff's Office Unity Committee
The Unity Committee was formed in September of 2020. The purpose of the committee was to unite a diverse group of people from the community and the Sheriff’s Office to sit down and discuss experiences of systemic racism in San Luis Obispo County and to identify strategies to improve our community.
