Discharge of a BB Device in Grossly Negligent Manner

ScottPhone: (805) 781-4550Date and time of incident: 02-16-2018 and 16:43 hoursPlace of Occurrence: Clark Valley Road/Los Osos Valley Road, Los Osos, CaliforniaVictim Information: NASuspect Information: Two juveniles and one adult (Tre Rea, DOB: 08-3-99)On 02-16-2018 at 16:43 hours, Sheriff’s Dispatched received a 911 call from a citizen that had observed subjects sitting in a parked vehicle point a rifle out of the vehicle and fire the weapon towards an open field. The reporting party provided the license plate and description of the vehicle to Sheriff’s Dispatch; and Dispatch broadcast the information to Sheriff patrol units in area. Shortly after the broadcast, Deputies observed the vehicle traveling in the Los Osos area. Due to the nature of the call, and the potential presence of a rifle being inside the vehicle, Sheriff Deputies initiated a high-risk stop. Sheriff’s Deputies ultimately detained three occupants from the vehicle and recovered the rifle. It was quickly determined that the rifle was a BB rifle. It was also determined that two of the occupants had fired the weapon while seated in the vehicle as it was parked at the intersection of Clark Valley Road and Los Osos Valley road. The subjects that fired the weapon will be charged with Discharge of a BB Device in Grossly Negligent Manner. The juveniles were released to their parents, and the adult was not arrested.
