Strong Arm Robbery

The victim had gone to a junk yard on Sheridan Rd. to look for automobile parts and parked his car near the yard. He saw a subject later identified as Salas inside his car. When the victim confronted Salas, Salas punched him in the face and fled in a van driven by another man.
The victim followed the van and called San Luis Obispo Sheriff's communications to report the crime. The victim followed the van to the State Parole office in Santa Maria, where Santa Maria Police and State Parole agents detained the suspect.
Deputies interviewed and arrested Salas for strong arm robbery after recovering an IPod that was taken from the victim's car.
At this point it does not appear that the man who gave Salas a ride was aware of the robbery.
Salas is being held in San Luis Obispo County Jail on $60,000.00 bail on robbery and parole violation.
