Assault with Deadly Weapon

Upon arrival, deputies found a male victim with a stab wound to his lower extremities. The victim and witnesses identified the suspect as Chance MacAire who was last seen running from the location. MacAire has no known address and frequents local transient camps. Deputies along with Sheriff's K9 searched the area, but were unable to locate MacAire.

The victim was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At 1050 pm deputies located MacAire the 300 blk of Pier Ave., Oceano. MacAire fled on foot and after a foot chase he went into the lagoon at Norsewing and Airpark refusing to come out of the water. He brandished a knife threatening deputies and threatening to harm himself. State Parks Rangers, Grover Beach Police, Arroyo Grande Police and County Mental Health responded to assist.

After negotiating with MacAire for approximately one hour, MacAire came out of the water and was taken into custody. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and subsequently to County Jail for booking. Charges include Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest. ,
