Interruption of burglary in progress

Contact: Aaron NixPhone: (805) 781-1423Date and time of incident: Sunday, 04/22/12 at 0156 hoursPlace of Occurrence: 2800 block of Cienaga, Oceano CAVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: Arthur Edgar Groshong, 54 yoaOn April 22, 2012 at 1:56 AM Sheriff’s deputies were responding to a call for service when they passed a small building that housed a fruit stand located in the 2800 Block of Cienaga Street in Oceano.

As the deputies passed the business they saw a car parked at the side of the building, off of the street. The deputies believing this was unusual for the time of night stopped and checked the vehicle. The deputies found that the vehicle’s hood was warm and when they looked inside the vehicle they found a large number of commercially packaged produce goods from the fruit stand inside.

The deputies checked the building and caught Arthur Edgar Groshong in the act of burglarizing the business. Deputies arrested Groshong for burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. It was later determined that Groshong is currently on parole from prison.

Groshong was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the following charges: PC 459, burglary; PC 466, possession of burglary tools; H&S 11377, possession of methamphetamine; and H&S 11364, possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $20,000 and he remains in custody at this time.
