Stolen Items Recovered

When Deputies arrived, they learned that citizens in the area were returning to their vacation rental when they noticed a female carrying a purse they reported stolen the previous day from their rental just a few houses away. They confronted the woman and a fight ensued. Upon the arrival of the Deputies, the female suspect ran into the house on McCarthy Avenue and then escaped on foot out the back of house. She has been identified as 33-year-old Amelia Ora Covington of Oceano. She now has a warrant out for her arrest in connection with that burglary. Deputies were given consent to search that house and discovered clothing, jewelry, and make-up, worth approximately several thousand dollars. Some of the items have been returned to the victims. This investigation is continuing.
In a separate incident, another burglary from a vacation home in the Oceano area was reported on 8-4-14. The victims say their purses along with their credit cards and money were stolen. Deputies had information that one of the credit cards had recently been used at a convenience market. They reviewed the store's surveillance footage and were able to identify the suspect in this case as 26-year-old Chase Ross Twomey of Arroyo Grande. Credit cards, an iphone and a laptop were recovered at his residence. He was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, burglary and receiving stolen property.
