The subject is believed to have been involved in a carjacking that occurred earlier in Santa Maria. Deputies pursued the subject to Nipomo. The subject crashed the vehicle into a fence at the intersection of Juniper and Mary in Nipomo. The suspect ran from the car into an occupied home on Encino Lane. A mother and four year old child were able to escape from the home with the assistance of patrol deputies on scene.
The suspect was believed to be armed. Members of the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED) was in direct contact with the subject described as an Hispanic male in his late 20's. After several hours of negotiations, the subject gave himself up and was taken into custody without incident.
