While the inmate was housed in the cell, Correctional Deputies performed regular checks once every 30 minutes to ensure the health and welfare of the inmate. While still in the kneeling position, the inmate appeared to lay his head down on his bed. When Correctional Deputies checked on him, he was unresponsive. Correctional Deputies immediately began life saving measures and the inmate was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The inmate was brought into the Jail on 3-18-15 on a probation violation and for use/under the influence of a controlled substance. Investigators are still trying to locate and notify next of kin.
The inmate was housed in a cell that is under video surveillance at all times. As part of the investigative process, detectives are reviewing that video. No foul play is suspected.
