During the incident, shots were fired inside the home. A perimeter was set up. The suspect was later located in the backyard of the home, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects.

When Deputies arrived, the female victim says she was attacked by the male suspect with an ax. The victim suffered wounds from the attack but managed to escape the residence and run to a neighbors house for help. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. It's not known at this time the severity of the victim's injuries but she was alert and talking with investigators. Her condition is not known.During the incident, shots were fired inside the home.
