Accidental Injury Fatality, Victim Information
Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781 4547Date and time of incident: 5-26-13, Approximately 4 PMPlace of Occurrence: Las Tablas Cove, Lake NacimientoVictim Information: Sandy Krystal Valencia, 23, SalinasSuspect Information: N/AOn 5-26-13, while on patrol on Lake Nacimiento, deputies with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Marine Enforcement Division and Monterey County Park Rangers were flagged down to render aid to two people. A man and woman were thought to be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, the result of sitting at the back of a boat near the engine exhaust. The woman was not breathing and so the deputies and rangers initiated CPR. The man and woman were both transported to a local hospital. The woman was declared legally dead on 5-27-13. She continued on life support until 5-30-13 when an organ donation procedure was completed. The Coroner's Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is now identifying the woman as 23-year-old Sandy Krystal Valencia of Salinas.
