Possession of a Controlled Substance, Transportation of a Controlled Substance

The vehicle contained a driver and a passenger. When the driver exited the vehicle, the Deputy noticed a knife in the driver's seat. For the Deputy's safety, he performed a search of the driver, identified as 29-year-old Jacobcharles Michael Collins. The Deputy discovered a digital scale hidden in the groin area of Collins. A further search revealed a large golf ball sized package located in the same area. When asked about the package, Collins indicated it contained an opiate. The package was later determined to contain approximately 40 grams of heroin with a street value of about $5,000. Collins was booked into County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance. The passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Jason Michael Gauthier, who was on felony probation, was also searched and a small amount of heroin was discovered in his wallet. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
