Contact: Tony CipollaPhone: (805) 781-4547Date and time of incident: 10-20-16, Approximately 2:10 PMPlace of Occurrence: 1200 block of Mercury Court, NipomoVictim Information: N/ASuspect Information: Jason Thermann Macias, 47, NipomoOn 10-20-16, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident at a home in the 1200 block of Mercury Court in Nipomo. When Deputies arrived, the female victim was outside of the home and the male suspect barricaded himself inside the home. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released.
Deputies established contact with the suspect to encourage him to come out of the home. The suspect responded with verbal threats against law enforcement and armed himself with a knife.
Negotiators were brought in to talk to the suspect. When the talks broke down, the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT team) set up a perimeter around the house.
Approximately 9 hours after the standoff began, tear gas and distraction devices were introduced into the home but the suspect still refused to come out of the home.
On 10-21-16 at approximately 1:15 AM, Deputies along with a Sheriff's K9 made entry into the residence and were able to take the suspect into custody.
The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Jason Thermann Macias of Nipomo. Macias was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained during the incident. If not admitted to the hospital, Macias will be transported and booked into County Jail.
Macias is facing charges of domestic violence, felony attempting to escape with force and possible other additional charges.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted during this incident by the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department, Cal Fire and San Luis Ambulance.
