Press Release
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Coast deputies took a third man into custody on Wednesday in the theft and destruction of numerous art pieces from the Cambria area. James Scott Armstrong was located and arrested in Cambria after detectives implicated Armstrong in the theft ring. "This case was a great team effort between patrol deputies at Coast and South stations." said Detective Dave Marquez. Marquez was in charge of coordinating the cases and interviewing suspects. The investigation continues with additional victims coming forward and forensic work being done on the destroyed statues. The statues were mostly brass and were deliberately broken into small pieces to sell at scrap yards for cash. Shelly Renee Davis and Gustavo Dejesus were taken into custody on Monday March 8th and charged in the string of crimes. Armstrong remains in custody on grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and parole hold charges. Booking photo release authorized.
