Press Release
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Correctional Officers doing routine inspections for the Home Detention Program discovered a person in violation of the conditions of home detention. The person was previously convicted of possession of child pornography and as such prohibited from having an operable computer at his home. The original inspection was done in April and the suspect computer seized and sent for forensic examination. Investigation revealed additional child pornography downloaded on the laptop. Search warrants were issued for the internet protocol addresses and after further investigation a warrant was issued for the arrest of Lopez charging two more counts of child pornography. Lopez was taken into custody without incident on July 21, 2010 and remains in county jail on $75,000.00 bail. The Home Detention Program allows persons to be on supervised release to reduce jail overcrowding and reduce costs associated with housing non violent crime inmates.
